About Westsyde

Westsyde is a thriving community of about 5,000 people in the city of Kamloops (which has a population of about 90,000). Westsyde is located between the North Thompson River and the Lac Du Bois grasslands area, and it is mostly residential, with small shops, a pool and fitness facility and parks.

Westsyde Secondary School is the smallest of the in-town secondary schools in the Kamloops-Thompson School District, with approximately 690 students. The advantages of a smaller student population includes a strong sense of community and belonging and a greater flexibility and creativity in course offerings, see . This includes a range of both academic and sports-focused electives. The school's culture includes the values associated with high-performing team sports, supporting football, basketball, rugby and curling teams.

Students are encouraged to get involved extra-curricular activities, including school clubs offering a range of cultural, academic, and intramural sports.
